Ism sucks from what I know theyre weak, they run hot and parts start to fail at around 300k miles.(weak run hot) means parts fail faster img. If anything I'd prefer an N14 the ism is almost 1000pounds lighter than the n14 if that matters at all.
isx Cummins?

I am not going to boor you with design differences. Suffice it to say that the M11 was "ok" for fire, bus, and municipal spec dump trucks.....not for class 8 tractors pulling max loads. Frankly, I think you will be disappointed. -
An ISM on a coal truck? Yikes. What's the rear gear 5.11?
My winter truck is a 1998 T800 with an M11. I gross 80K between Watertown, NY and Baltimore, MD. 6.5 mpg with a 4.33 rear but I'm never the first to the top. The engine has been trouble free since 2007 once we fixed the sunken liner. It does leak oil from everywhere though. The Pete with a 14.6L 3406B on the same run gets 5.5 to 6.0.Last edited: Dec 12, 2015
