I've had a ton of problems and It's just built up to much.
I just had to have onroad send someone out to jump my truck. Backstory: I have a bad battery or multiple, So I idle all the time, I was told to cut my idle time because its way to high, I let my dm know about this problem and that shops have told me that there fine and wont change them. So in laredo I sat 6 days for the shop, and they didn't change them either, Dm said cut the idle anyway, I told him fine, but the truck wont start, sure as rain, it happened thismorning, Monday he will get a good call from me.
Ive been broke down in this truck more times then i can count.
Also a ton of pay issues, can't seem to get them to get me the correct pay ever.
Missing paperwork, ive had to rescan a bl 3 times, and sent them all the confirmation codes everytime, still listed as missing. Missing log 4 times scanned and sent confirmation codes each time.
I'm getting tired of being out here for almost 2 months at a time, and trying to knock out loads to make money, but nobody else in swift offices seems to do there part.
I would request a new dm, but I don't think he is the problem, he is a bit of a pain but nobody else in my terminal seems better.
Not sure what to do, I'm thinking it might be time to move on.
I've had it

Welcome to trucking.
You've been with Swift for how long now? Less than 1yr.?
Its going to get better, but by job hopping, you will get a reputation that will be very hard to get rid of.
This is where the men are separated form the boys, so to speak. Be patient, be kind, and above all be patient.
There might be something else wrong with that truck.
Talk to one of the Mechanics in a Terminal sometime to show you where some of the big issue area's are. Just because you do the Pre-trip, doesn't mean you'll see those areas.
Learn your truck!msfern29 Thanks this. -
I agree with MisterG...things will get better, you just gotta give it time. And just starting out they probably gave you one of the older trucks that`s due to be turned in soon so you could get a little more experience. Everybody starts out that way. I did and a year later, 3 trucks later, and I`m a mentor with a 2011 Prostar that just turned 90,000 miles. My truck before this one was a 2010 Volvo with 125,000 on it. Just do your pretrips and make sure you`re not tearing them up and you`ll get better trucks.
In regards to paperwork, well sometimes it happens unfortunately, just like it does with all companies...that won`t change.
As far as staying out almost 2 months...well you set your own home time schedule and you can go home after roughly 12 days out. Just depends on where you are an where home is. One thing I`ve noticed is if you park your truck at the terminal (if possible) it`s ALOT easier to get home when you want. I live 2 hours from my terminal and park my car there and leave the truck at the terminal then just drive home and I`ve never missed a home time scheduled unless my DM ASK`S, not tells, ask`s me to cover a quick Sears run. I do it, go on my home time, and when I come off I`ve always had a nice 2500+ mile run waiting for me in return. Just my .02Injun Thanks this. -
I have to agree--think about it for a while before you jump. Things may seem against you right now but maybe there is people you can speak to bout your issues. Go up the chain until you find someone that can help you with the issues. Don't give up on it--the grass is not always greener somewhere else. The next job you find may be even worse than what your going through now. Good luck to ya--hope it all works out for you!

Dude, man-up. I noticed a pattern with you a while back. I just went back thru your last 100 posts and in the vast majority of your posts you're whining about something. Maybe your trainer did do a lousy job of preparing you for being solo. But Many folks have come to your aide and offered good advice and support and you've extended a whopping 8 thanks. You should be ashamed but I'll bet you're not!

Your profile says you are a "Student" - wouldn't your time be more productively spent preparing for your CDL test and eventual career instead of lambasting someone on a subject you apparently know little about and/or have absolutely "zero" experience in?JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
I do have too much time on my hands and I AM preparing properly. It doesn't take an experienced driver to recognize a constant whiner. You can climb back on your high horse now Driver.
bikegoon, Injun and The Challenger Thank this. -
xlsdraw,, wait till your atleast on the road before you talk crap.
the rest of you, thanks for your input, My truck is a 2010 volvo with 200k on it. My plan was to put it in the shop during my next hometime. But weekend planners are argueing with me right now. They set my pta out till dec. because I turned down a load. Not sure what to do now. Sure don't want to sit here till monday till my dm gets back in. Maybe its been to long sense ive been home, been out sense jan trying to rack up miles .
And I didnt say I was quiting, I said it might be time, What I was looking for is advice to deal with pay issues, paperwork disappearing, and truck mechanics not fixing the issues. -
You **** kids these days don't recognize constructive criticism when it smacks 'em in the face. You let me know if I ever address your driving ability. You got some growing up to do. There are plenty on here that will continue to coddle whiners.
-
well, finally got things worked out, ect manager called and found a load that will work within my hos and my hometime request.
and i'm no kid, nor a whiner, I long on here and post my problems because these are the people that usually help me. There are great people on here and alot of good advice. I don't know any veteran drivers personally so this is the place where I can talk to them. Does it sound like i whine, sure maybe, but thats because this is where i can post my issues and get advice.
