I got my CDL Class A 2 days ago and applied to a bunch of places. I narrowed it down to Prime and J&R Schugel. Both can get me into orientation in early January.

Anyone know much about J&R Schugel? I like they do dry van and reefer as opposed to Prime but I always hear Prime is one of the best places for a new CDL holder to start at.

    Thanks!

    Schugel for two reasons.

    1) Nice equipment with full size sleepers. You won't have to downshift for every overpass like you will in a gutless Prime truck.
    2) No ####ty Wal Mart accounts that they can stick you on because they can't keep enough regulars to cover the loads. No ####ty 'regional' boards or other specialty BS.

    Good luck.

I'm an ex Schugel driver. They're a good company with nice equipment & plenty of miles. They also treat you more like a person instead of a number. I liked it there, but I left for personal reasons. Plus you can do 65 in their trucks instead of 57 or 58 in a Prime truck.

Easy decision I hate driving slow, J&R would be my choice.

I work for Schugel currently. It's pretty good overall but they are switching over to autos which are being governed at 63. You can't run the Ohio, Indiana, or new york tolls either unless you have permission. You can only run from new Stanton to Carlisle on PA. But the pay is pretty good. Plus we get paid for Christmas and Thanksgiving whether we run or not. By the way we do have regional
