I am a flat bed owner operator with my own authority, but need to take a break from the flatbed to allow my arm to heal. Has or does anyone pull for JB Hunt as power only under their own authority? How are they to work with and what kind of revenue are you generating per week? How are you dispatched and is there a lag time between deliveries to next dispatch? I can still drive and pull a dry van or inter-modal.

Never pulled any of them but the minute my authority went active last year they started blowing up my phone every day. For the hell of it I looked into it with no intentions of pulling for them. I pretty much came to the conclusion it would cost me money to pull there power only loads. The only thing that remotely looked profitable was Dollar General account that required unloading your non palletized trailer at all stores and then reloading empty totes and out Monday through Friday, yeah right.

We have a JB Hunt with a Home Depot dedicated here locally, I've never hauled for them but it's all drop and hook with pre loaded trailers. They advertise $750 a day, up to $1,000 during peak. For power only and home every day I think that pretty darn fair.

You do a search on here. Like Derailed said as soon as my dot number became active, they call you. ..ALOT. Had them email a packet and you can notice what's on paper and what the guy on the phone is saying is different. A couple of guys on this site said they always stuck them with the heavy northeast loads.

We did sign up to pull with JB Hunt as power only, but decided in the end not to. My wife talked with the person who would have been our dispatcher on a Thursday and was told we would have a load for booked for Friday to pick up on Monday. The dispatcher also mentioned that he had a good driver who liked to run hard like us, but that the driver wanted $5000 per week, "crazy money". We didn't get dispatched on Friday, or Saturday or even Monday. Ended up dispatching ourselves to a regular broker.
My wife did call the recruiter and let her know we would not be running and explained why. The recruiter found out we had not even been booked for Tuesday and admitted that most of the Southeast drivers were only making about $3000 per week. Definitely not enough to pull their cheap and heavy freight. I'll stick with my flatbed, thank-you.Army91W and dannythetrucker Thank this. -
You get exactly what you put into it when you hook to a van. There's been a lot of discussion here in the past on just how bad of a deal this is. A good mileage lease would average the same per mile with a lot less expense.
