To Prime or not to Prime that is the question.

 

Does Prime give you a choice of automatic or Standard transmission? I can't stand automatic. Also does Prime have driver facing camera's?

 

Fleet began conversion to all automated manuals this past October. Some standards still remain, but should be nearly complete eith being cycled out within 3 yrs. Students, however, do test out on standard transmissions in trucks set aside for this purpose, to avoid having that auto only license restriction.

Company will be completely automated manuals within that time period, give or take. An inevitable fact of the future sweeping most all major fleets, due to efficiency.

No inside cameras. Tested couple years ago with small group & owner decided that is not for us at all.

 

@FullMetalJacket Just curious, if you have your CDL already and going to TNT, how do you get paired up with a Trainer? Does Prime do a road test or a simulator test when you arrive?

 

Strange. Then both trucks i was in were setup wrong then. Dispatcher was wrong too.

 

Automatics are ruining drivers imo. They will go back to standards when they see all the issues with those transmissions.

Tanker division has to be all standard?

 

Can you expand on this? How are they ruining drivers? What issues are there? I have not driven an auto, but there is always a first time.
