X1's posts were too long, I'd forget what they were talking about halfway through. Welcome aboard, Merle, you "story" pretty much resonates most here, while we don't know the age of the posters today, I'd have to say the median age here is 50's. While there are many younger drivers, I think this site, which I would have killed for in the 80's, btw, generally caters to seasoned drivers, most "still doing it" because they have to. I'm like you, started in the late 70's, did it all for 35+ years, and like my name suggests, I'm very happy to be retired, but not necessarily, "Happily Retired"( already changed my name twice) I'm simply bamboozled at what's become of our profession, I'm sure my O/O comments, while true, aren't welcome, I can't believe anyone would buy a truck today, and I'll try and contain myself on that, and whatever you do, DON'T go on Facebook looking for like truckers. I went on an "Old School Trucking" group, it was okay at 1st, but a more rude, inconsiderate bunch, I have never met, and quit the group, I was never so happy to get back to TTR. You'll find, we're all bozos on this bus, me, being one of the biggest. This was the 1st T/T I drove, circa, 1978, and have a bad back ever since, stupid Mack, was one tough horse, I tell ya'.
