I want dry van. And no touch freight. The more drop and hook, the better. Manual or Automatic...(I like to float)
Home time is not big to me, no wife or children. Anything over .37 cpm and i would like 2,000+ miles a week
I know being new I cannot be picky... But I am curious about whats available to me in the SE part of North Carolina. Thank you
Just got CDL, who do i go with?

Stay regional. Better money. There are lots of companies down there. Talk to drivers and do your homework. And above all else.....DO NOT get sucked into a lease purchase program.
Drive for a good company and get paid,Eckman Thanks this. -

Plan on 1600 plus miles. 2000 miles is nice but it's a holy grail that is rusting what with all these HOS impacts.

I'm in Charlotte and went with Schneider. There isn't exactly a plethora of companies that hire new drivers and after a month of searching Schneider, who wasn't my first pick, responded immediately when I went on their website and chose a job that interested me. That was one thing I liked, being able to choose my job ahead of time.
Orientation in Charlotte is three weeks, they pay $80 a day while training, along with your hotel, transportation to the OC and two meals a day. There were a couple of guys in my class from Fayetteville who will be based out of Charlotte but can take their trucks home.
You won't get .37 a mile as a new driver but they have sign-on bonuses and tuition reimbursement, as well as the usual incentives for fuel conservation and such. -
Yes, Charlotte is in a lot of good traffic lanes for not only Schneider but also JB HUNT too. I am old enough to remember when JB HUNT AND Schneider were the (Swifts) of trucking. Both companies have cleaned up their acts and I HIGHLY recommend them today. Both Offer local regional and OTR jobs. I don't know if JB HUNT still slip seats. But I do know at one time in the past they had a reputation of doing so. By the way unless you want to stay within that local area of NC STOP THINKING ABOUT YOUR LOCATION and START THINKING TRAFFIC LANES. Your not that far from Charlotte or where I live Hampton Roads area in Virginia. OP what you want to do is check out the traffic lanes of ANY OTR company that operates anywhere near you. Check out their websites AND call their recruiting depts. Trust me on this. It is VERY easy to get hired by a company that don't turn out to be a good fit for you.( and I am not just talking about pay) Don't just blindly hire on with the first company that makes you an offer.
Edited to add this. Because of your lack of experience your choices might be very limited. You might have to eat a lot of what the French call merde that first year, but later should be in a great position.Last edited: Oct 24, 2016

I met a guy a few weeks ago that went to Best Buy here and bought a cheap prepaid cell phone and went online and registered with a throwaway email address and using that prepaid phone with several trucking jobs websites. He told me he got over 100 Job offers over a week. He researched his options and went to work driving for CR England servicing their Smithfield Va account. Once he got finished he put the prepaid phone in a closet and let the throwaway email address slip. Just saying!

More dry van:
A.N. Webber
Titan Transfer
Balkan Express
RBX Inc.
Safer Transportation
Wiley Sanders Truck Lines
Pride Transport - vans & reefers & flatbeds
Remember, just because a website has "experience required" doesn't mean they won't hire a new cdl grad, because they bend their own hiring criteria for good applicants.
You'll have to research the companies to be sure they have what you're looking for because sometimes websites aren't up to date.Eckman Thanks this.
