My trainer had me thinking homicidal thoughts multiple times. It's a fine line between manimal and animal. While it's a shame the guy was murdered, his death may have saved lives. Imagine that nut po'd with 20 tons in the wagon.

Look what is out there for them to choose from.
The mega fleets created their own problem by dumbing it down to a point where any idiot that can push the D button and release the brakes can have a job.

...Which in turn led to the “need” for all manner of nanny devices and stupidproofing.

Don’t you just love that pesky law of unintended consequences?

You can't make anything idiot proof. Once you think you've got it, a better idiot comes along to prove that you don't.

No surprise considering the numerous threads describing trainers acting like ignorant imbeciles.
On the other hand I never had to train any driver I had not hand picked. Never train a company warm body choice

Really not surprising. I had one of these Big Blue Douche Canoes turn left across my path from a side road to the right in a 55 zone to go the opposite direction at 200 feet and closing. I had to make my own lane in the shoulder at 50 mph and still missed their trailer by mere inches. I often wonder if asthma forcing me out of the industry did me a favor. Saved my life, maybe?

After 40+ years in trucking I haven't witnessed many issues with trainees but have witnessed numerous issues with trainers. Don't know anything about this case beyond what I've read here and in the media. Surprised more trainers (and terminal staff) haven't been on the receiving end of violence.

Some of Swift’s “Best In Class” drivers have proven that theory time and time again. And they always come up with something new.;)
