"Cause your truck is your office"............. NO, Not a good idea.......Things are Hectic Enough out here...The Last thing a Driver needs isa to be a Clerical office person while operating a truck....(Tooo much work for what rates are paying) Wait till you get home,.,,,,Find an empty room in your hoime..Make it your office..(Excellent tax write off for me of over $500 per month) You cant Write off office space in a truck.... nevertheless......You will do nothing buit Stress yourself out making Bills and Faxing stuff inside your truck..Instead of Relaxing and enjoying a good meal. Bills can wait a few days till you get home.... If Brokers dont like it..Thats Tough! I simply tell them I make Bills when Im in the office
I don't go to New York and California anymore. I am waiting to get my insurance and then sign up with CH. Robinson, LANDSTAR and TQL, my factoring (England) will provide me with fuel cards. My medical card is current - I never stopped driving from 2008. My truck comes with APU and inverter 3000W. I have laptop and portable scanner in the truck and using T-mobile cellphone to share internet connection with my laptop. When I have to sign up with new company, I am using a software program called "Nitro" so I can fill the contract and stamp my signature electronically (saved the time to print, sign and then scan) and send back to them via E-mail. Very rarely some company will insist to make all the paper work over the fax, then I will use a service "Fax1.com" to send and receive faxes through E-mail. Thank you for the good luck.
I was told - LLC is better than SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP. If something goes wrong, your personal assets, like house, truck, cars and etc. are covered.
I just found this post: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...30081-interstate-vs-intrastate-authority.html Very rarely I did pick up and delivery in one state and for the 2013 that happened to me 3 times in UTAH. So how much does it cost to add intrastate for all the states, except New York and California, another $300 or more?
ok i give an example, you on the road driving you have your truck posted on the load board and you get a phone call from a broker a really good paying load but oops you not set up with the broker, according to you i will tell the broker sorry you have to wait till i get home two weeks from now to send you my information(my letter of authority, certificate of insurance etc)or pull over somewhere safe get everything in order get the load and hit the road again.i have a trucking softwere in my laptop at the end of my day i do my bills close my logs and enter my starting and ending location and it generates everything for me(logs, ifta reports, mileage reports for ky and ny)and when i go home i dont have to do anything except putting letters in the mail.also i run flatbed and occasionally do some oversize so i need to print permits and my setup safes me 30 to 50 dollars each time.and i never heard of a broker asking anybody to send the bills.
