If you are going to school whether you drive to it daily or stay in a hotel, what's the problem?

Can’t say for dryvan, i was there when it was (SNBC) schneider national bulk company, now it’s all Schneider, even dropped the National part.
Equipment was rough looking on tanks, but good shape, i seen quickly most damage was done while they were dropped at tank washes. -
Schneider is great if you can deal with small paychecks.
Don't know how well tanker is doing, but dry van freight is slow with all companies.
Refrigerated trucking keeps the wheels turning plus you get paid for waiting to load/unload.
No matter how bad the recession/economy, refrigerated food & medicine keeps moving because people have to eat and medicine is always needed everywhere.
I pulled reefers for 18 years and never a regret.viper822004 and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Schneider veteran here.
Based on what I learned while I was there -- & also given the current job & freight markets -- I would suggest you actually stay at KLLM (if you can).
I think Judge did Schneider a good while before I did -- & so his experience (tanker) was better.
You'll have better paychecks over at KLLM, too.

I 2nd all the posts advising you to stick with KLLM. If you don't want to make that commute, I can understand that as well. I've made more money hauling reefers than any of the other sectors that I've dabbled in. So if you stay with KLLM, the commute will produce a good return once you get in your truck
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Wait!
you are crying about a hotel room that you end up paying for out of your labor anyway and you have an hour commute?
stick with the company, get your cdl and stop worrying about the small crap, you have a lot bigger crap to worry about just in getting your cdl.buddyd157 Thanks this. -
Focus on the 12 month job, not the commute during CDL school. Make decisons for the long-term, not short-term convenience.
drvrtech77 and ibcalm19 Thank this. -
Will you still be paid for training?
They may not pay for the motel room, but are they willing to reimburse?
So, is this the same policy for people who live hundreds of miles away?
Do you have a contact that you can call and speak to? Have you called?
If you are in their truck and the truck breaks down, do they pay for a motel and do you receive breakdown pay? How much do they pay per day for breakdowns?
Trucking companies negotiate. They do it all the time. They may be expecting you to walk, but don’t do that just yet. See what kind of deal you can get in writing.
Luck in battle.Last edited: Jul 21, 2023
