Got my last dot inspection, but have tires getting close to swifts pull point on the drives...mostly 4-6/32 on drive tires...I like the preformance of the tires and the lifespan i have gotton...but by my next dot inspection...they will need replaced...(i should be right at 250,000 miles ) anyone gotton a full set yet?..what can i expect to pay at a swift shop, for a fullset and 3 axle alignment?...I seen Ta's tire deal for decent tires 3,000 a set...with alignment....can swift do better than this price?
are there any advantages other than price to have swift shop replace them?

Not sure what Swift charges. I think the T/A will give you $40 bucks credit for your old tires though (each). They will turn around and sell them for $250 each. If you can, try to keep them so you can sell them yourself perhaps even $100 bucks each would knock down the shock of 8 new drives.

Also might be a good idea to buy the new tires before the end of the year due to the Fiscal Cliff deal not getting done in time, certain business deductions may expire or be significantly reduced at the first of the year.

Bought my set about 3 weeks ago at TA. The 3k deal is on recaps, so to me at least it wasn't worth it. Bought 8 32/32 bridgestone 726EL for $4800 with 100 off per tire on the old set. swift fronted the money and I paid them off within the next week of driving. I would look into getting through TA/petro. I was looking in a couple of terminals looks like all they have are continentals tires. I personally was debating between these bridgestone tires or a set of michelin XDNs. Ended up getting this set since I am not sure if we are going to buy this truck after the contract, where I've heard on a set of michelins you can get almost 22k a 32nd which would be close to another 500,000 before needing another set.

Was $4800 the price the TA quoted or the Swift national price?

The Swift national price on the Bridgestone 726 ELs is $3400. I got mine at a Petro, got an $80 per tire casing credit, free 3 axle alignment, lunch and a shower. Going through On Road it didn't hit my statement for a few weeks and was $2762.19.

TA quote, so lost some money but yes got 120 for each tire since they still had 8/32 on them and even wear. but forgot to add that I got alignment/food/shower also. They billed me within a week but had enough to cover it.

Mystic/...so u got the set of 8 drives..with casing rebates at petro for 2762.19?...how much tread did u have left?....and you got bridgestone 726 el(is that extended life tires)...fill me in please...i need to do in next three months...i dont expect much on a casing rebate as i only have between 4-7/32 on my current tires...so swift shop cant beat petro price?

For future reference - and fr8monkey - go through On Road, you will get the Swift national discount price, it's about 40-45% less than the TA quote. I got steers for $740 - only got casing $80 credit for one tire - and the TA quoted price was $1100.

TA/Petro and Swift will be essentially the same price - you get the national price either way. Swift shop limits you to what they have on hand. I wouldn't wait, do it ASAP while you still have some life in those tires. I was at about 4/32 and got $80 per tire.

Besides if your tires are at 4/32 it's not a matter of you making it to your next 90 day inspection, it's will you pass if you get pulled in by DOT - it'll cost a heck of alot more to have someone come out to a weigh station to put a set of tires on to make you legal.

..ok i got your point but 4/32 is swifts pull point to replace...dot legal is 2/32 for drives...so i think i will be ok(taking a month off)..putting 2 more months on them..

go through On Road, they will get you the Swift national price. Petro bills the tire manufacturer to Swifts national account, the manufacturer bills Swift, Swift bills you.

As far as going through Swift vs Petro ... I bought steers at Swift and at TA ... same price. Same time I got my drives, a friend got his at the Memphis terminal, he paid a little more for the Michelins, only got $50 a tire casing credit and then had to go to a TA and pay for an alignment. If I recall he was just over $3k for the tires, then paying for the alignment.
