I've thought about it a lot and have done liquid hazmat, dry bulk, non-hazmat. I like the comments Indian River drivers post on here and personally, since I prefer running the roads,I'd give them a try. Saw they were looking for a local driver in New Mexico which would work for someone that wants to be home every day.local439 and jungledrums Thank this.

Since you have the 4 clean years under you belt i would suggests private tanker fleets. They have great pay, cheap insurance, low to no turnover, and many have local postions.
Here are some
Chemical:
Brenntag
Univar usa
Nalco
Nexeo solutions
Cryogenics:
Linde
Praxair

I been told by actual workers at univar out of Houston that top pay for their drivers is 22dls, I think is pretty low if you ask me, also not all svc are union. If I was to get a tanker gig I go for akzonobel they do offer pretty good bennies.
jungledrums Thanks this. -
Absolutely too low
Univar up here starts at $26.00.
Most of the tanker jobs around here a close in payjungledrums Thanks this. -
Maybe he was giving me b.s. answer but I figure if you driver a tanker you should earn a bit more.

Depends on the location
Out west they top near $30hr with o.t. and pull in near 100k. -
Cost of living in Chicago area is way higher than tx. 26 dollars an hour in Chicago is equivalent to 22 dollars an hour in txRockinChair and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this.

Tanker work is about the easiest trucking you’ll do. Sure it’s hazmat, but there’s no physical work. Hauling fuel is easy if you go that route. Just load at the rack which is simple, then head to a bulk plant or station and unload. Pretty simple work. Weird hours and not necessarily Monday- Friday work but it can be enjoyable
