It's not just LS. When I was with Admiral-Merchants I found out they had their share of deadbeat (just cruised ITS all day long) agents, but then again I found out who the hard working, professional agents were too. Even with A-M I took some great loads from some of the professional LS agents and even from ATS. Yes it is a learning curve, yes you can and will get burned but LEARN from that experience. Don't spend a lot of time b::::::g about it, your losing twice as much then. This forum is a great tool to use to learn (just be smart enough to weed out the bs from the truth and the same with just talking with other drivers).
Landstar brokers.....bottom feeders of the load boards.

Drivers are in a way responsible for rates if they hauling the freight for the CHEEP RATES theses companies are posting loads for then the companies will keep moving it for the cheep rate.
This year seems to have been very bad with the rates because drivers are hauling it for 1989 rates.
I will not but that is just me I guess.
SAY NO TO CHEEP FREIGHT. -

Yes, drivers are responsible for what they let themselves get into. But having to take freight at rates they feel is too low is more a product of lack of service and lack of contacts.
The rates are being paid to quality carriers. TL transportation spend is up this year. And the standard deviation in spot is huge.
With those two bits of information we should focused on how to get to the other side of the average and not on the losing side.spectacle13, Hegemeister and Lite bug Thank this. -
Drivers are SOLELY responsible for cheap freight.
It ONLY continues to exist because it gets hauled.
If someone could figure out a way to organize truckers and carriers we could all get back to the days of trucking being a gold mine. We are the ones who dictate the industry rates, not the customer.Last edited: Oct 28, 2015

Heres a great article about LS and also they got one on TQL http://oldchicagodrive.com/index.php/2015/09/16/5-worst-brokerage-landstar/

If a load is significantly lower than you would expect then it might be that they are double brokering, regardless of the broker.

As many have already posted its about the guys that are taking these loads for ridiculous rates. Unfortunately, many O/O don't know how to operate a business properly and that brings rates down for the rest of us. I was talking with a guy the other day and he was running a flatbed load for TQL for $1.25/mile.
If trucking could be more like the plumbing or electrical business everyone would make more money. When's the last time you were able to negotiate with plumber. Doesn't matter how many you call there are roughly the same price. That would sure be nice in this business.Flipflops Thanks this. -
Problem is no one educates truckers on the business side. Truckers only get the turn wide training. Trucking should pay more than plumbing but due to uneducated its not.
That guy might make 600$ clean on that load if it was long enough and he'll be happy with it compared to what he used to get. This is all well until he has a major break down such as an over haul.. Then he is in #### and will say "owner operator is a rip off.. I rather be a company driver"... 30 years later he'll throw his piss out of his mcdonalds cup on a owner operator truck. See it all day lol -
Lots of slave labor trucking companies that drive down rates. These companies get needy African and Russian/Ukranians to work for peanuts. Many of these carriers are nothing more than Cameleon carriers that have a regular regimen of opening.....being shut down.....then opening again under a different name.
Hate to say it.....trucking is being used as the new slave labor.
