That's true, I recently found my own insurance and insured a truck and trailer for the same price that Gallagher charged for just the truck, and I also started running my own tag and save about 450 or so dollars a year, just gotta keep track of my miles ms make a trip down to the irp office once a year

That's who I use. I'm paying $480 a month for about 120k in coverage. My record is perfectly clean.
    Who would you recommend? Thanks.

I would try 1stguard. I'm with OOIDA, but have been for 14 years, so apparently I get better rates than newcomers.

I have been with Landstar for just over a month. I was pulling a Landstar van last week and got red lighted at a weigh station in Missouri. When I hit the scale the officer had me pull around and come inside. He said my tandems were in compliance but there is a problem with the load being balanced equally on both axles. I was sent to the inspection area for a level one. My truck passed without any issues but the trailer did not. In fact it was placed OOS. Evidently the load leveler valve was malfunctioning and weight of the load was not balanced between the trailer axles. I called the OOS in to trailer maintenance and they sent out a T/A tech to repair the valve. Long story short, I received a citation and I am now being told that I may be looking at a final warning for the trailer being OOS. Have any of you heard of this happening where a BCO has an issue with Landstar's equipment and Landstar insists on holding the BCO liable?

How are you supposed to know if load level valve is bad or not.

That was my point to compliance. The tandems weighed in at 29000 lbs. The weigh-in-motion detected that one axle was supporting 25000 lbs of the load and the other was supporting 4000 lbs. So in essence the citation was for an axle over the weight limit and the OOS was for the load level valve not functioning properly.

Do a pretrip and notice the airbags aren't inflated or that the rear axle is sitting on the automatic suspension lock thing that some trailers have.

It doesn't matter who's name is on the trailer. You, as the driver are responsible for insuring the tractor and trailer is fit and safe for the road.
