Well, one must also remember that some people you just can't please. Everyone encounters one of these sooner or later.

Not much worried about pleasing them. Still no reason to go out of your way to piss them off.

Without reading this whole thread. I block it all the way, then laugh like the devil at the dudes that are stuck to the roof of their 4 wheelers and hung out to dry.

I'm local in Phoenix. This year voted NUMBER 1 BABY both city & highway most aggressive drivers.

There has been major construction along one of the main truck routes on the southside, and there are two intersection that funnel to one lane at traffic lights. They are about two miles apart, and once rush hour starts in the morning, it's every man for himself.

    SO,

Legal? Dunno. But I block it all the way baby, and the traffic flows nicely.

One morning some dude was even going to go into oncoming traffic to get around me and ran right into the BIG construction signs with no where to go, then no one let him back in for awhile.

HAHAHAHAHAHA, you see they eat their own.

Another morning some dude was going to do the same thing, except he was going to go fully on the wrong side of the boulevard..............oooops, ran right into a mounty. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You ain't quite right, are you?:p:D
Though I'll admit that if I had to put up with that VOS traffic every day, I wouldn't be quite right either...

I was sitting in that mess Thursday...not only was the left lane closed, but 2 4-wheelers broke down in both lanes. Took 1.5 hours to get 6 miles.

As far as the OP's question...all lane blocking does is push the people that are cutting in line further back making a 4 mile backup 6 miles long. There was a study done recently that showed backups move faster if both lanes proceed to the closure, and then alternately merge...but getting everyone to cooperate politely is another subject.

I pick and choose my spots. But these people are so F/U. If I don't block those two intersections, the right hand lane never moves. As where a big truck controlling it, probably works like the engineer had in mind.

Now they are building a full interchange to add a whole new freeway on the 10 right in the middle of the worst congested part of the west side !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( 59th Ave )

It's just getting started on its already UNBIELIVABLY screwed up. 2 years of that???????????????

If I'd of got a load headed east from Kansas City ,I'd of took the back roads around it.
Maybe you heard me telling everyone to run the left lane to the front...

You cannot expect cars to do a formation merge, it's herding cats.

As far as blocking the left lane you are only going to go away as soon you enter the construction and the problem rolls on blocked up behind you.

One of the joys of running local 'round here is that the only "backups" we see are during planting and harvest seasons when the farmers are moving their equipment...or during the brief hours when a school bus might be making its rounds. Otherwise, set the cruise and roll!
