I got burned really bad on a run. It hurt me financially, but more so I feel totally let down.
I accepted a load offering from Cali to Utah. It had a delivery time when I accepted it, but then the dispatch said no delivery appt set yet. After my trailet was loaded (06/06), they pushed it out to Monday (06/10). I called my DL to get it Tcalled in SLC, UT....I got the same spiel..."I'll get with the planners." Then it was wait until Saturday to get with weekend planners, cause we don't want to step on toes. Then the driver services coordinator sent me a message saying to just head to SLC and ask the dispatch window if I can Tcall.
At this point, I'm thinking, nobody gives a rat's behind that an owner op was sitting on a 730 mile run for 4 days....nobody. It's like these planners are GOD themselves, and no one wants to convince them to do the right thing. Where does the buck stop??? In the end, I was asked to beg dispatch for a Tcall??? It's the drivers responsibilty and in his power to accomplish this? If countless people can't make things work, they seriously believe I was going to change that?
I want to start a fresh week and put this behind me. I now know that the only person looking out for me is myself.
Learned a valuable lesson

dam that had to bite 4 days for 730 miles. never had that exact issue but have been stuck without a load for 4 days before just a bad freight area. or my DM/DL was mad at me for demanding i get my truck fixed the week prior. was up in the maine area (flatbed)

my current load is almost as bad, I picked it up on Saturday with just a little over 600 miles on it, it doesnt deliver until today and its a live unload...

You drivers are at Swift, you can't ecspect too much can you?You want more miles, more money then go elsewhere.

That is tough on an owner operator.

If it is the customer ahem C O ahem ST ahem CO just go ahead and deliver it and play dumb like you're right on time. That is usually my go to load coming off hometime, they factor in an extra 10 hour break because the preplan says Live Unload, but it is always a drop and it is always a problem getting an empty call because the person on the other end of the qualcomm basically calls me a liar when I ask them to fix the mt call because the customer requests a drop-- WE NEED A NAME AND NUMBER OF WHO TOLD YOU TO DROP, COMPUTER SAYS LIVE UNLOAD

One of my rules is NOT to take loads without delivery appointments. Frequently when I state that as the refusal reason I get it back with a T-call.
MikeCammer and lilrich Thank this. -
Oh, DO NOT be afraid to call the customer and make your own delivery appointment. BTDT
