Wanting to go from company driver to a lease to own option october of next year when this truck is two years old. Anyone have any advice on what i need to budget for as far as breakdowns and regular preventative maintenance? Will be driving this truck as a company one until the lease to own starts in October of next year when this truck will be 2 years old. Currently running it 3-4k miles a week otr. Has the that 445 hp and 1800 torques volvo mp8 motor in it with an automatic trans.
My company owns 50 2018 Anthems...budget a lot for downtime and repairs, those trucks are junk. A friend is currently sitting in a dealership getting work done (truck derated and threw codes, not sure if it was engine or emission issues). Most of the drivers that have them here HATE them because they can't pass a dealership without stopping in for a recall or a repair. We've had engine issues, transmission failures (with less than 50k miles), computer issues, emission problems and general assembly line issues (stuff not tightened or installed right on the assembly line when it was built). To be honest, not sure why they are having issues with the engine, transmission and emission system, it's the same equipment as our Pinnacles have, just under a different style truck body.
Im at 78k miles amd only breakdown ive had is one of the drive axle seals that started leaking at 12k miles which was at covered by the factory warrAnty.
Well find out what ur miles per week is on average, times that by 50 weeks a year and theres a good estimate.. Probably be less than that number depending howmuch hometime ya take
Well 250k is about 100k more than the truck is worth. I can see a little higher than normal since it's a lease, but that's outrageous.
Interesting...my brother has 7 of them, been great trucks! He plans to sell his last three Peterbilts next year and get more Macks.
Agreed . Years ago I purchased new Volvo 780 with D13 ( Macks are same toys with different name). It came with only 250,000 miles engine warranty, they offer extended if you want to pay. I don't know what warranty they offer this days or what your company purchased. If you run it at this rate miles/week you'll get an expenssive truck without any warranty, insurance for your investment . Its good on fuel economy , but MP8 used to have same injectors/bull gear isues like D13, its basicaly same motor. Perhaps less injectors problems with common rail on 2019 models, I don't know if they fixed the double idler gear issues on new models. I was lucky mine failed last year only at 1.1 mil, on my 2nd Volvo 780 with D13 I got a reman motor, but some D13,MP8 goes way sooner.
