The only right way to own a truck is making a profit...big money equals pretty women and a lot of shopping lol...

One of the one major differences between a lease-purchase and a bank purchase is what happens if you want to end the agreement before completion. Most (maybe even all) leases are 'walk away', meaning you turn the truck in, pay the final bills, and walk away. That's it. If you buy a truck through a bank, there is no walking away. Being a "real owner operator" does not ensure success.

Not always true regarding a lease. There are many fleece purchase companies that will destory your credit, sue you in court and have your wages garnished for breaking a lease. For this reason I tell people to take the contract to a trucking attorney or the OOIDA for review. Here is an example that is true....if you turn back in a fleece purchase truck to Road Runner....it goes on your credit as a repossesion!!! Now your credit is destroyed!

Yes buying a truck is a risk like any other business. Trucking is a business and it needs to be run as such. No business ever a sure thing. However, doing a fleece purchase is totally a bad idea in every sense. I know that there are fleece purchase recruiters in this forum that pose as a sucessful L/P driver.

Make a business plan. It might take a while to get there but it can be done correctly. Kevin Rutherford has an excellent course to help guide you.

I regret to inform you, but it is I, I am outed, I am the L/P recruiter, aka scum. I've made millions doing it, whence I got rolling, even though I knew I was taking advantage of unsuspecting and oh so vonorable truck drives with that gleam in their eye, that dream of one day becoming the oh so coveted Owner Operator, I just couldn't stop myself.
I've turn myself in to OOIDA, may they have mercy on my soal.

I'm not sure why you believe that it is impossible for two people to do things in two different ways and both be successful. I am assuming you are a succesful owner/ operator that purchased a truck from a dealer. That's great but the model you followed isn't necessarily the only correct path. Saying that every lease is bad for every driver all the time is ridiculous. Every one is different. Some people can be very successful participating in lease programs and many have. Each person needs to study any business venture before they begin to make sure it is right for them. Oh, and I want to warn everyone that there are people on this site lying about being drivers that are actually trying to sell Kevin Rutherford books. Do I have proof of this? No, but if someone has a different viewpoint than me they must be lying, right?

Finally, any chance we can all agree to stop with the bad puns? Yes, I get it, lease rhymes with fleece. It was a lot funnier the first 17,258 times I heard it.

If you took a poll of 60 owner operators I guarantee you would get 60 different ways to run a truck and every one is the ONLY way to successfully run a truck.
