I don't see that the OP did anything wrong.JCT Created the danger, the OP avoided a accident.

    anticipate

    verb

1.1Guess or be aware of (what will happen) and take action in order to be prepared
    :
In all your videos, you fail to anticipate what the other drivers will do. If you saw JCT was going to pass you no matter the speed limit , let off it and let him. (or speed up and block him)
I think your if you thought 5 to 8 seconds ahead for a while, it would become a good habit .
Did you watch this video beforehand and anticipate the responses you would get?

Scottie im not at all saying what happened was your fault,JCT is clearly to blame. But what I am saying is stop worrying about how fast you or another truck is going in a dangerous situation like this one just let the other truck in and proceed thru the zone in a professional and safe manner.JCT had no intentions to getting back in the right lane, in that case slow down and let him pass.Stop worrying about whos right and whos wrong just do what you need to do and do it SAFELY.Theres a lot of idiots on the road and getting bent out of shape isn't going to stop the idiots.I think we have all have run across some first class idiots while driving,I know I have many times.Playing their game isn't going to solve anything but make you both angry and more aggressive.Someone needs to give.In my case im the one that gives and let the other motorist pass me.Stop worrying so much about a certain driver not obeying the signs and you following the signs.Let me give you an example so you better understand what im saying.Youre driving down the interstate and you see a motorist entering the interstate but failed to yield even though theres a yield sign.So what you do is yield for him even though he should have yielded. So try doing less worrying about the other vehicle because he didn't obey a sign and you focus on driving safely.I cant stress that word enough SAFELY.

I think I drank too much Safety Koolaid that carriers pound into our heads about Safety because I'm all about going the speed limit and obeying posted signs.

I see both drivers were in the wrong.

Obviously JCT was attempting to pass at the last possible moment coming into the construction zone... Bad choice.

But the attitude of the OP is the part that scares me the most!!!

Someday a driver is going to make a mistake around him and with his "I am in the right, ain't changing" and basic inability to understand basic defensive driving concepts, there will be an accident. And probably a video posted here.

And for the record, if this incident resulted in an accident or death, I whole heartily believe some level of responsibility would fall on the OP as he was aware of the actions of the other truck and didn't do enough to avoid the accident.

But hey, he was doing the speed limit. Right?

    Sad

I should have made this post a poll-- Did Scottie do right or wrong in saving JCT from himself?

Yes I figured a lot of the comments would be against me just like my other videos, some people are still mad about another video I posted and will never give me kudos for the fine job i done here due to that other video.

JCT tried to execute a pass within the last half mile before he was to run out of road. That is monumentally rude and dangerous, and stupid since there were several signs showing Left Lane Closing 2 miles, 1 mile and 1/2 mile ahead.

I obeyed the signs and I obeyed the speed limit but some of you are blaming me for JCT's actions as if being in the Right Lane and going 59 in a 60 is somehow inconveniencing JCT like he is the aggrieved and harmed party here.

I will leave the video up so people can learn from it.

Several years ago an SUV running alongside me, plowed into my driver side fuel tank and spun off into the median. i was going the speed limit and holding my lane and was awarded a Non Preventable Crash.

Same thing would happen here, I would be held blameless if JCT and I were to have tangled up. I did anticipate that and did what needed to be done to avoid a collision bottomline.

    G13Tomcat Thanks this.

Scottie, it looks like he hesitated for a bit before he finally passed you. And if you hit your brakes to accommodate him, someone else could have rear-ended YOU. How I see it. Carry on, driver.
