    Hello to All,
When researching trucking training schools, which is more important, the length of the course (contact hours) 4, 8 or 12 weeks v.s. student truck driving hours 12, 30, 40, or 240?
I ask this because I see schools offering anywhere between a 4 - 12 week course, but the majority of them only offer 40 hours or less of actual driving time in the truck. When new CDL A graduates are looking for work, does the carrier look more at the length of the course or the actual hands on truck driving time a student had during the course?

    Thanks,
    B

You are overthinking this. all you really need is 160 hours that's what most companies look for.the goal of all driving schools is to get you to pass the test and get your license. You will learn how to drive a truck in the real world through your company's training.

This is correct; attend a 160 hr. school; you don't need more. All carriers want to see is a graduation certificate from a 160 hr. school.
Where are you located; city/state? We can give you some leads on jobs, then you can verify what we've posted with their recruiters.

Things has changed. When I went, we went 4 months worth of weekends, a part class, part yard (That's constant) and a small part driving. I probably got about 10 hours total. No one ever cared to see that little inkjet diploma from graduation as long we have that Class A. (CDL...)

Plenty of very good trucking companies hire Orlando new cdl school graduates.
I'd recommend community college or tech school cdl programs. There's a few of these around the Orlando area.

My preference is refrigerated carriers, but that's just me. Here's 4 to consider.
Freymiller - www.drive4freymiller.com - click on "Recent Graduates."
FFE (Frozen Food Express) - www.ffeinc.com (terminal in Winterhaven)
MCT Transportation - MCT Transportation - Comcar Industries, Inc (terminal in Sanford)

I did the community college route. Cost $2000, did 120 hours classroom and 240 hours driving/backing/pretripping
