    One of those threads....

    Had to do a uturn today. I for the most part avoid them but I've been seeing more trucks making them. Thoughts?

    @G13Tomcat , @Thull , @scottied67 and anyone else I missed get in here

    If you do need to make a uturn how do you aproch the situation?

    Make sure everything is clear, go as wide as you can, be empty if possible.

    Look to see if there's much traffic and if there's a lot you can turn around first.I've made uturns in church and school parking lots.But back to your question make sure there isn't a no uturn sign make sure its wide enough to safely turn your rig around without tearing it up and make sure a cop isn't around.

    Don't do it. Make your way to the next exit, or empty lot, go around the block, etc., and turn around.

    That would actually be the best thing to do.I've had to go 20 miles to turn around that was in Canada.

    You made it so that's the main thing.I know for me it was scarey missing the place.I've made a few uturns but it's important not to even think about itl if there's traffic.I've also turned into a street and backed into the the street across the road.But you also have to make sure the turn is wide enough.

    tinytim Thanks this.

    The same people who will avoid a Uturn on a public road will jackknife so hard Uturning in the truck stop they will bend they batwing fairings and dig a hole in the parking lot.

    I've done the Uturn before but have to make triple sure everything is OK. Would rather make a left into a large lot and come out the right direction on the main road from there.

    Once in the lot sometimes will just do a 3 point back, especially if I have to buy the trailer tires, I make sure to take country mile to turn the rig around to prevent or at least mitigate shredding the trailer tires.
