The apu on my last truck.would.run while the truck.engine was on. I'm guessing maintenance did that since when it got warm I discovered the ac didn't work. The apu didnt help much coming from o vent in the baxk while it was 90+ outside and sun beatting me thru the window. Needless to say first terminal.I got to the ac got fixed. Told.my fm I wasn't moving without it. Lol. She said she didn't blaim me.

Yep, remember who owns the truck. Then think about the money you are not making sitting in fuel lines and driving out of route. As I've said before, they have a right to tell you what do do with their equipment and you have a right to go make a living elsewhere too.
Its a two way street. And you would think that a company with a turnover rate as high as USAs would think clearly about these kinds of decisions. So far the program has not been toughly enforced and I am trying to follow it. But when it tells me to do something stupid, I don't listen. If they decide to toughen up then ill be just one more in the gone column.
I'm out here for one reason. Too make money. As long as I'm doing that we will get along.

I can full believe this! I was parked next to one of you guys, last Friday at a Peelot! Idling his truck all night long. Was an older Kenworth! Had an APU on it.....thought it was funny how he had an APU on it and was able to idle it. Of course, I've heard if you have your trailer brake released, it'll idle...wish I knew that when I had my POS at USA...would've helped me ALOT! lol

Say, my buddy, who's with USA, was in Carlilse last week....Marc and someone else was grillin' out burgers and dogs for the drivers. Marc, and my friend got to talking...he's thinking of becoming a trainer. Marc said ALOT of changes are coming to training! Said, most of the trainers will be REALLY UPSET and probably stop! He did say they are REALLY HAMMERING DOWN on C1 students, now. They, supposedly, are gonna REALLY step up on the hygiene issue too. Just what he was telling me....can someone clarify if he's BSing me or not? Just wondering!

Marc is dreaming. They are going to change training, in fact they already have in some areas. USA has a contract with C1 and Dave Turner said the same thing, but was shot down. They have reduced the minimum to 150 Hours for some students. The new training manuals suck. There isn't much in them worth reading. They should just leave it the way it is, work on weeding out the steering wheel holders and those that can't read or do simple math, and look for drivers that want to work, not sit around and whine.
The way it is now all they are doing is training drivers for other companies.

I did the C1 thing and am disappointed overall. I did not learn much of what I needed to progress here although I met a USA trainer with the right words to get me escalting through what I did need. All said, my USA training experience was good as far as learning goes. Trainer's inability to be sane and mature have been shortcomings. I am thankful for the USA opportunity given me, but I would have trouble digesting a second pass (in hind-sight). USA appears to need a better training plan and oversight.

C1 did just what they promised, got you your Class A. Although even I expect more from them. But, there are worse. Had a recent student from an Atlanta area school that should not have a CDL of any type. He had a hard time backing up a bobtail. Let alone a trailer.
And yes, USA does need to improve the training plan and oversite. The new training dept arrangements have been nothing but a big step backwards. I expect a rise in both accidents and trainer turnover soon. Will just wait and see.
