If they're using google maps to route people they aren't going to own anything but a pile of wrecked trucks and lawsuits.
Google maps will route you through a #### field.
I'm in Pittsburgh right now. I wonder how long it would take me to crash into something if I used google maps to get to the highway from here.....

Agreed shippers don't know the right route half the time. But I still call them and see if I can sleep there. That way sometimes I can get loaded whenever and not start the clock. :biggrin_25525:

Depends... do you know what roads you are allowed on in Pittsburgh? Because if so then all you need is Google maps :p

    pete1 Thanks this.

Yeah but sometimes the atlas still doesn't give all the information you need to know if your truck is allowed on certain roads.

You guys should try calling the customers that don't have a clue what kind of directions to give. My favorite response is "You don't know how you got to work this morning?"

I quit USA while home for Easter with no notice. They said I was welcome back anytime.
The company I work for now has the same system with the fuel, and charges their drivers for out of route miles driven. I was beside myself listening to all this in orientation. I am so glad to be on a dedicated local account for them. but I would never go OTR here. I am to used to the freedom I had at USA. Sounds like you guys are going to lose that.
I was a Commercial carpenter for 13 years before I started driving. I watched my industry change all those years, sometimes for better but most times for worse. young construction managers strait out of college thinking they knew how I could do my job better. Looks like arrived in trucking to see all those changes take place with new technology, telling you guys how you can do your jobs better. We are the robots. I hope you OO's Don't think you are immune. You are already struggling to keep up with rising costs that these corporations can absorb.

Ok, batting less than 50% with this fuel solutions. Worked nice a couple of lds, but would have cost. USA and me more most of the time. Was running down to about an eighth of a tank and it sent me to a Marathon station that you could barely fit a straight truck in put in 50 gals and then hit a loves 120 miles down the road. Both out of network. Instead I went 2 miles out of route and put on 145 gals in network, saved the second stop and the extra comdata charges for the second stop.
