I still fail to see how he is being limited on miles as a solo driver. 33k miles in a quarter is really good solo. It takes the whole quarter to reach that.

i was at Swift for 4 years. They charged the lease ops $0.09 cents per mile above 11,000 miles a month. Most solos are right there just fine but if you took on a teammate or a student driver you can see how easy it is to double that 11,000 per month limit.

Companies that lease trucks for their company drivers may be subject to the same limits.

Other companies that lease and then sublease trucks to contractors may also be subject to these mileage limits. Companies may not want to scare off contractors with over mileage charges so they integrate in in the contractor's pay package say $0.90 a mile, the company may charge $1.80- $5 bucks a mile for the freight depending on circumstances, the contractor is basically paying for everything back at the company including the over mileage, trailers, DM's, mechanics, lights, water, sewer, garbage, you name it the contractor is paying it, just never sees it.
