That is what sucks nuts about reefer. My body can not handle the flipping of sleep schedules. Actually, it is very unhealthy and dangerous......as if this job isn't unhealthy and dangerous enough as it is! Circadian Rhythms are real, biological, and need to be taken seriously. I run dry van...long haul....my schedule RARELY varies. Start 0000-0300, shut down by 1500 AT THE LATEST!. GTF away from that reefer/ grocery BS. Good dry van opportunities are out there.

Yes.... in my opinion they are. New payscale eliminates the "monthly bonus" chase. If you want to be home every 2 weeks... Maybe not. If you want to RUN for 7- 10 weeks....the miles are there.
My current weekly checks are $1500-1700 gross....yes I had to say "gross". "Take Home" changes considerably from person to person. I worry about the intellect of anybody that asks.... Is that take home??

Dedicated or regional would probably fit the bill. Technically I am OTR, but I run out of one terminal and 95% of my loads are to regular customers that I have done more times than I can count. About the only time I need to worry about looking for truck stop parking is when I am routed out of the area to get back home every 7 weeks. Almost all the shippers and receivers allow us to park on site and neither are more than 5-600 miles away from the terminal where I usually get routed back to once empty.

I slept great in a truck too, but would take the hotel over the truck.

Not me, in my truck I have everything to hand vs trying to figure out what to pack when I need to check into a hotel. Almost always forget something I need.

Also, I have yet to find a hotel room where the AC gets as cold as I like it in my truck.

I think it is perspective. 20 years ago, I worked for a construction company that sent me to Yuma from Tucson, about 2 weeks out of the month. The first couple of months were kind of exciting. After a year.... Hotels/Motels get pretty old pretty fast. JMHO.

Why sleep in a different room everything with questionable cleanliness when I can sleep in "my" bed every night?
Plus the beds range from "plywood is softer" to "Send in a team to pull me out as the bed has swallowed me soft" and everywhere in between.

No, I dislike hotels. Heck, when I vacation I take an air mattress to put on top so I can regulate the firmness as it's never right for me.

    Lonesome Thanks this.
