In my state dump trucks don't really use brokers. The larger dump truck companies act as Brokers though, if you need work. If you call the bigger dump trucking companies for work if they have the work they'll put you to work and take a small percentage.

Your best bet is to call all of the excavators and road paving companies and Quarries in your area.

At least around here that's where the majority of the work comes from.

As you work the truck you'll find other avenues of work and eventually your phone will just ring and you'll have to say no when you are busy.

The best business advice I can give you is that, if you are good at anything,... NEVER give it away for free.

I gotta chuckle from this. LOL

But this is what I am talking about. As long as someone will pay for it. May as well profit. Its just business. Nothing personal.

Bill directly with who you’re hauling for! Never at all cost work under another company for work. Everyone who gets into this business did it to make them money first. It’s a small circle kinda thing aggregate/asphalt hauling. You either get into it cause you were apart of it, or someone brings you into the lifestyle. It’s dog eat dog and if you value friends. This is not the trucking you wanna be in.

6 axle dump truck as your first dump truck? I’d go straight to asphalt or anyone who pays hourly. They will over load your truck because In this world “if it fits, it rides”. If you wanna stay legal weights stay in freight. Aggregate haulers don’t come on to forums/boards to discuss rates and jobs. It’s always “who you know”. But better said “who knows you” kinda business. You will find that not everyone’s rates are the same.
