Looks like Lockheed Martin is a day late and a dollar short
Airlander 10: World's 'largest' aircraft readies for takeoff

Good idea for some areas... I could imagine a blimp carrying freight to areas up north that cannot be reached by truck, or moving freight to offshore rigs faster than a ship. Cost prohibitive though.

I can see it now....Von Hindenburg freight lines...."our rates are so low they spontaneously combust!!"

In other news today
The pacific coast fly way was shut down for several hours due to a multi dirigible collision.
Two FedEx and one UPS blimps are involved. According to on scene witnesses, the FedEx pilots were flying recklessly and clearly to fast for conditions when one lost control and hit a cloud bank, careening into the second FedEx blimp, then into on coming traffic, colliding with a UPS blimp.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, clean up and recovery work is under way. The fly way reopened late this afternoon.Anonymousproxy, AModelCat and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
I followed this for years hoping it would get commercialised.
They poured mountains of money in to it.

Multi dirigible pile up on intermountain fly-way
The intermountain fly-way was closed for most of the day due to a multi dirigible pile up. according to reports from authorites a C.R. England dirigable was attempting to pass slower moving Prime Inc and schneider dirigables. Two Fedex dirigibles approched the trio of slower moving dirigibles. Unable to slow or maneuver around these slower moving units, the first Fedex dirigable slamed into the rear of the C.R. Engalnd unit. The following Fedex unit also unable to slow crashed into the rear of the first Fedex dirigible. This set off a chain reaction pushing the first two dirigibles into the path of the Prime and schneider units. Authorities are continuing the investigation into the incident. Full reviews of the on board electronic recorders will be conducted when recoverd. The Fly-way is currently open as clean up continues.Last edited: Jul 3, 2016

This just in, FMCSA just announced they are making a new rule requiring all new blimp license trainees to have a minimum 1 hour of training, though CR England and CRST blimp pilots will be excempt from the new requirement.
