I have a question about truckers who speed IE: 68 in 60 spd limit state. How do you doctor your logs to prevent the DOT at the weigh station from knowing you're speeding?
To clarify, I don't want to go that fast (8 over). When I drove highway in WA (60 mph) and OR (55mph), I would only cruise 2 over limit. Yes, I staid in the granny lane before someone goes on a tangent. By the time I averaged out my speeds from up hill (slower) and level, I would average just under the speed limit. Also, keep in mind I was running at 100k lbs net, so my uphills were fairly slow. I also wouldn't bother marking the 5 min stop for a potty break.
But I'd see the O/O rigs blow past me at 70 mph, and I'd wonder how do they keep the DOT from writing them speeding tickets at the scales? I've had a couple of DOT bears run over my logs to check for speed.
Thanks, Pal

I think what is done is a lot of luck and prayer that they dont get the books looked at
-
or maybe they just havent got caught yet.

if you were only 2 mph over speed limit--no way would be just under logged speed==especially heavy in wa
would really be closer to 45 mph---unless you are on flat ground and light--68mph would probabely average out to 60 mph---when you log it -just dont make it too obvioous--average it out at 55/58 mph -
49-54 depending on route and traffic to be exact. Just looked at a couple old logs.

Don't stop at the weigh stations!
Kansas Thanks this. -
I heard that was more of an Oregon thing - checking logs against speed. Guy told me he doesn't want the Oregon version of prepass because the scales will communicate with each other through it somehow to know if you were speeding to get to the next scale.
This didn't happen to me lol but I *heard* about it.
Trucker going along prepass beeps rapidly indicating go into the scales. Scale sign in front of scale reads CLOSED. Hmm what to do? -
if it's closed ....wow never had that happen when I had prepass....I guess i'd just drive on by and quallcomm the idiots ...I mean dispatchers and let them know what I did so I couldnt get a ticket for blowing a scale off
-
It's called Norpass and all of the states in the Northwest share computer info from it and they also keep track of what time you crossed what scale.
If scale sign says CLOSED that means it's CLOSED! It don't matter what that #### prepass says if the sign says CLOSED. I have went right on past scales in several states when they were open that say bypass when ramp is full after being red lighted on the prepass but the ramp was full and I have never had one problem. -
Notice that those o/o's doing 70 pass you 2 or 3 times a day? Go fast ... stop and take a leak ... go fast ... stop for lunch. All sit time logged as driving to get their avg speed right. Or they have a good relationship with the big man up stairs and rarely get a level 3.
Oh, and I know for a fact that New Mexico keeps track of when you enter and leave their state .... prepass, or driving through the coop
