If they are within 100 air miles, the local rules would apply and a time card would be sufficient.

 

Thanks Moose, yeah, we had good friends back then. We'd do anything for each other, "here, use my tractor to move a wagon", or "wait, I think I have an extra air regulator", it was just a different time. I thought we'd sit around the nursing home with CB antennas and chrome lugnuts on our wheelchairs, remembering our shenanigans, just didn't play out that way, for some.

I would always roll through the scales if you are driving anything that looks vaguely like a commercial vehicle. It takes less time to be waved away than you would lose to an officer stopping you because they weren't sure if you were illegally skipping the scale.

 

I used to do tours. It does make a difference. We were not taking on freight for hire. Race car trailers also are like this.

 

I know Nebraska wants ALL trucks with a DOT# to enter the scale, even UHauls.
