Animal grudgingly walked away and returned with the suitcase a minute later.
He drew back like he was going to pitch it at me.
I gave him a warning look and said "Play nice now. Don't start no stuff and there won't be none"
He gave me a mean look, but handed it over nicely.
"Before we part ways, just want to let you know I don't appreciate all the lies you told about me, although it don't surprise me none.
And the way you treated this girl proved what a lowlife, spineless creepazoid you are.
And I'm willing to forget this whole thing and drive away. You do your thing and I'll do mine" I told him.
"Well that's mighty white of you Mustang, but I don't think so.
Way I see it, you assaulted me for no reason. Something else too, pardner, they catch your butt in California with that piece, they will throw your hillbilly butt in jail"
"Is that so? Mighty big talk for a fella with an ounce of blow in his truck.
I'll tell you what McTeen, and listen good. If a cop so much as looks at me funny, I'm gonna assume you snitched me out.
And I will hunt you down like the lying, filthy, disease ridden scumbag you are.
Just keep that in mind. You ain't that hard to find and I ain't going easy on you next time.
Consider it your lucky day I was holding back" I responded, giving him my best Clint Eastwood stare.
Animal returned a stare of his own. He opened his mouth to speak, but thought better of it.
He just turned and walked away. -
I stayed out 3 months one time and ran 40,000 miles it was great I saved all I could and got me a new car that my wife crashed three weeks later.Talk about 3 months down the drain...

i was talked to a driver who went home every 6mnths,he lived in n. or s. dakota.he said the winters were so brutal that he only went home in the summer months.if i didn't have kids or a wife, that might be possible, but not this day and time.i don't see the purpose,u can trade time & money for family time.

I knew an older widower once. We got home every weekend and he would just get a motel room. He said it was a waste of money to have a house or apartment. But he obviously didn't have any possessions except what he could fit in the truck. I don't know what he did with his money.
That's no life. Family or not, I need a place for my stuff. -

Eased into Quartzite AZ a few hours later. Darlene nodded out soon after we were rolling.
I could tell she was fatigued physically, and emotionally distraught as well.
I got us a motel room next door to Ted's truck stop and steak house.
While Charlene was in the shower, I walked to the store and got me a six-pack. Needed to unwind myself.
She was sitting on the bed when I returned, watching TV.
She looked much better in fresh jeans and a light denim shirt. Her blonde hair, still damp from the shower, had it's natural shine back.
She still looked damaged, but the bruises would heal.
I only hope that when we are together in public, people won't think I am responsible for the damage.
Oh well, can't do anything about that. Let them think what they will. Some folks always think the worst about others anyway.
Once we were seated at Ted's, I asked the waitress if Jaun Pablo could come out and speak with me when he wasn't to busy.
Juan was the chef here and I learned from a friend that he was the man to go to in certain situations, and this was one.
The food was excellent. Darlene was in better spirits, eating a nice ribeye, baked potato and salad.
It seems Animal wasn't big on stopping to eat, especially after she refused him certain favors.
Too bad I didn't know that back in Eloy. He got off easier than he knows.
While enjoying a second sweet tea and a smoke, Juan Pablo made his way out to our table.
"You wished to speak with me, senor?" he asked.
I introduced myself as we shook hands.
"Yes, sir I did. Thank you for making time to see me. I know you are a busy man. You are an excellent chef as well"
"Gracias senor. I hope there is not a problem with your meal"
"No sir. Excellent as usual, but I have a favor to ask. And I will pay what you ask, of course"
"And what may that be senor?"
"My amigo, Tex, tells me that you are the man to see if I wish to store something until I return from California"
"Ah, you are a friend of Tex. A friend of his is a friend of mine.I suppose you want to leave your pistola with me?"
"Yes sir, if you will. I am trying to avoid a potential problem. I will be at the motel until tomorrow morning"
"No need to explain senor. When you check out, give your pistola to Juanita at the desk.
She is my wife. It will be in our safe until you return. You can pay me then"
"Muchos gracias Senor Pablo. I consider this a great favor"
"You are quite welcome Senor Mustang. Enjoy your trip to California and I will see you when you return"
As he walked away, I noticed Darlene looking at me strangely.
"What's up boo?" I asked her.
"I didn't know you spoke Spanish. That is so cool" she said.
I couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah, I wish. Good thing he didn't answer in Spanish, because that's about all I know"

Mustang,
I'd be happy to proofread for you when you get things compiled into book format.
Looks like easy "work" and it would ensure I'd get my hands on a copy that much sooner.
Keep the story coming, the suspense never stops, does it? -
My plan is to have a compilation of Ricky stories(perhaps 5 or 6) in one book, which should equal a full length novel.
My next step is to locate an agent who feels I am worthwhile representing.
From the research I have done, one has a greater chance of looking at a submission if it comes from an agent, rather than an unknown individual.
