My dad is a fresh-off-lease O/O with about 30 years OTR experience. I got my CDL in August 2012 and drove from September - December 2012, (including 275 hours of behind-the-wheel training with Werner) so only about 3 months of experience in the last 18. I am 22 years old and have a clean driving record. We would like to take the truck to a company and drive as a team. Is this possible, and if so, where should we look? Also, we live in Oklahoma City, if that helps.
Looking for a job...here's the situation.

Have you asked Freymiller if they have team freight - meat loads possibly.
We used to work for them, nice folks. -
Have not talked to anyone yet, just looking at options right now. I know where the Freymiller yard is in OKC though, they split it with Werner so I've been there. We'll probably give them a call, thanks. =)

We talked to several O/O over the months there. They all spoke pretty highly of them. David F had personally loaned some of them money to fix major repairs and keep them running.
Guys in the shop were great . . . we were company drivers, but never had a bad word to say in the 18 months we were there.
Obviously not the be all and end all, but we ran team and liked the freight.
Must be other options there in Okc. ?
Looked at Cargill?ryuuou07 Thanks this. -
Might want to peruse the owner op threads too, or repost there.

Didn't think of Cargill. The companies I know of in OKC are Freymiller, Western Flyer, and Stevens Trucking (not Transport). I'm sure there's more, but those are the ones that come to mind first.
I'm just kinda worried since I really don't have much experience, and a lot of companies put these requirements out up front. My dad would obviously be fine, but we'd like to team drive.
I'll probably repost this in the O/O forum in the morning, just wanted to start here since I'm the one posting and I'm the new driver haha. But I'm sure there's valuable input to be had there as well.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Should be fine, as your dad would be 'lead' driver. Check requirements. I wouldn't personally recommend western flyer.

Ok, I'll let him know that. Stevens came to my trucking school, they seemed good, but they wanted you to be at least 23. Maybe it's different now, or different given the circumstances. Idk but we'll probably give them a call too.

Please do LOTS of research and fully crunch your numbers.
The freehold truck will really help. Good luck.ryuuou07 Thanks this. -
What about Hobby Lobby? There's a couple of companies that pull for Hobby Lobby I think its Midcon or something like that. I know there solo pay is low, but they do a lot of team work, and probably wouldn't cry about you taking a refresher course.
blairandgretchen Thanks this.
