Hi there. I am in Texas, and am looking for just some cheap class B cdl training. I really want only to drive class b vehicles.

Cheap because I already have a month of experience driving a class b vehicle. I need a little training about pretrip inspection, and how to pass the parking portion of the driver test. I think I will be okay for the rest of the driver test. Plus I need the trainer to provide the truck for the driver test, because no one here will let me rent a class b airbrakes vehicle without a full class b cdl.

I have also a class a cdl learner permit already. Passed airbrakes, combination, hazmat, and tanker exams.

Does anyone know of some cheap class b cdl training in Texas? I can go to Oklahoma, Arkansas, or Louisiana, but of course Texas would be best for me.

    Thanks for your replies. :)

OOPS! I forgot to add, my driving record is spotless, I have never been arrested for anything at all in my life, I am over 25 but under 40, have no physical impairments or handicaps, have no medical conditions, and am drug/alcohol/tobacco free.

It isn't cheap. Expect to pay anywhere from 3000.00 to 5000.00.

For class b training? I mean I know that that is what you pay for class A (tractor trailer combination), but class b is straight trucks, busses, etc. Should be alot cheaper.

I know of at least one person in connecticut who trains people who have learners permits already for class b for about 500 bux. And he comes highly recommended. It's just that I need to be a little closer to home, so I need training in texas or a surrounding state.

I don't need to go to a school. i just need a little training, not the whole shebang.

Thanks for your reply. Be well.

My mistake. I do know that the Wisconsin DMV has a list of certified trainers on it's website. Check and see if it's the same in Arkansas. Good luck!

All the schools are expensive (but some are also very very crooked becareful and investigate a school well in advance of signing any contract) that's the reason most drivers don't make much their first couple of years..........they are repaying loans unless they went with a company that had the school available and then they are locked into a mile rate that wouldn't feed an ant let alone his family and normally has signed at least a one year contract to stay with them then the comapny says the training is free (beware of anything that is free with a contract attached). There are places to rent a truck just for the CDL test and I know they are available in Texas, I have seen them when I lived there, you just need to look closer to the big cities and they all advertise in the phone book, going rate was 85 an hr just a few years ago so it shouldn't be to much more than that know. Good luck don't get discouraged and as always kep it safe.

You can rent 27' pup and single axle trailer all over DFW. They are parked in malls and on highways. I drove 25 years ago but needed to bone up. Went to a guy at NE Mall. Met him at 6:00 am. drove around course, practiced parallel parking, inspection, what they are looking for, etc. Went in at 10:00 am and aced test. Cost $300.00 for truck and his time.
Go ahead and get Cl a. I got tanker, hazmat, etc. I have never even sat in a tanker, but I'm legal to drive one in TX. Kinda scary. Good luck!:biggrin_25514:

I got my class B from the local school district in a school bus. I can drive anything except combination vehicles. Going to school for that this month to go OTR.
