Hi, my name is Shawn. I was looking to see if anyone in my area was willing to show me the ropes and give me advice. From what schooling I should take ( I'd rather not do otr) on a budget. Or if any schools in my area have some sort of pay back option after landing a job. I would also like to see how day to day operations are. This is also the first time I've been on this site.

Try finding local guy , preferably through friends , who will tell you honest insight on this gig and see if you like it .
Try checking community college to save some cost on school .
    Cheapest way :
Take book from dmv and learn everything you need to know to pass written test , next find local guy ( probably from Craigslist ) who will teach you driving skills and rent you truck for your CDL test . Local truck driver should be able to explain you what you need to know about truck , how to check it , do pre trip etc . Can cost you $5-700 if you go this route . And after lot of practicing to tune your skills .

They have financing. Um depending on your age and physical fitness food service jobs like Shamrock hires trainees. But with the pandemic they are slow. LTL companies like Mine Saia, ReddawaY, YRC train for CDL local mostly home daily. Seen UPS hire trainees but it’s teaming to start. But the pandemic has made a lot of local home daily companies cut back on hiring.
