I went to Sage.I had 3 different instructors, and heard 3 different ways to do things, with each instructor telling me they are right, and the other is wrong. They trained me to run the DPS test route.I got my CDL. Now I have a CDL,and only know very little about driving a commercial vehicle.I had to get a Intrastate CDL,due to a vision waiver, which means I can only operate in Texas.Gettin a job is very hard.I might have a opportunity getting on with a oilfield company though.

Sorry this was almost two years ago I looked up my receipts I paid 4100 for everything school room physical cdl test etc. Sorry wasn't current info but was a good school, I went them because I didn't want tosign contracts etc with other companies so if I wanted to quit no big deal.

Brother ill keep ya posted. Im also looking at ATDS in Waco, they seem to be a smaller biz but offer quality training and job placement into oil fields.

So Smoothgrind, how did the 2nd week of school go; are you still pleased with how things are progressong? Thanks!
smoothgrind Thanks this. -
The Second week has been even better, mainly because we finally got to start driving out on the range! Woo hoo! : )
We went over Hours of Service and paper logs also, so now we are keeping a log every day.
We've been performing every morning:
the Pre-Trip, and the Air brakes test on which ever Rig your group starts out with.
Then each group starts dropping and hooking, straight line backing, parallel parking, and double clutch
shifting because it is required to double clutch on the TXDOT Driving Test.
There is a lot of time spent observing as each person takes their turn in each process and I am surprised
how much the observation actually helps in learning some of the techniques and procedures. So, It's all good!
The instructors are very encouraging, even with all the rough starts, gear grinding, and
abrupt stops from all the "greenhorns".
It's very cool as everyone is progressing, and gaining confidence as each day passes.
We had another recruiter come by from Maverick, and it was good to hear what they had to offer.
They pay pretty well, and they are based out Little Rock, so I don't know how home time would pan out living in Austin?
Still some things I need to figure out before even thinking about what company I might like to drive for!
Anyway, hope all is well for everyone and you have a safe and fruitful week! -
Smoothgrind, thanks for the update. Please continue to keep us updated.
