I just re-applied for swift since getting my diabetes waiver approved. However, I am concerned about getting turned down due to an at-fault accident I had back in August of 2013. I know in their app process they say I must not have had any preventable accident within the last 12 months. Are they referring to only commercial vehicles or any vehicle? They don't specify until they get to the reckless driving bit.

Am I doomed? I did drive for them in the past and had a good record with them. I wonder if they will take that into account?

    Thanks!

Why not call one of their recruiters and ask them this question? They're the ones who are kept in the know about these things, or else know who to direct these questions to. If not a recruiter, then how about the safety department in Phoenix? I'd post the phone number, but it's been brought to my attention recently that I'm not allowed to do that.. so you can either Google "Swift Transportation Phoenix" and find it, or you can look on their Facebook page (even put your inquiry in there, if you should so wish).

I despise that cdl - personal crossover rule.

    Ring safety direct for clarification.

    Good luck.

I know I need to call them and find out. There is a personal I've been in contact with at the Eddy'sville terminal that I should talk to again. My current work schedule makes it a bit difficult to make daytime phone calls.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Let me ask this, if you were in my shoes, what would you do?

My health forced me out of driving at the end of 2010. Last Saturday, I successfully received my FMCSA Diabetes Waiver for Interstate Commerce. Now, I can drive again; but, here is the clincher: I recently started a new job about 4 months ago. Work is stable and I have benefits. The only drawback is the pay. It's not minimum wage bad; but it isn't enough (when is it?). I am partial to the job partly because I have family that works there and the staff treats pretty good. However, remembering my travels from before I left gets me excited about driving again. I've never been one to job hop and if I left this employer, it would be the second time I have done so. Last time I left was to go drive for Swift.

I want to drive; but, at the same time, I am mostly content with how things are. Additionally, if I left now, I'd feel like I'd be letting alot of people down (again). Should I say screw it and go where the pastures are potentially greener? Or, do I play it safe and stick with my current job?

On a side note, I haven't asked Swift yet about my driving record; however, I did get a renewal notice from my auto insurance. According to them, I only got 4 points for the accident. The 2 tickets were waived. I am unfamiliar of the point system and do not know if 4 points is like OMG bad or what.

    Anyways, thanks for reading.
