I have been looking into them now for the past 40 minutes or so. All seems great except if I go to the school they only teach automatic. If I wanted to learn/test for manual transmission then I would have to pay $1000 out of pocket and be in school 1 more week. Not so worried about the extra week but I know I don't have the $1000. Is it possible if I go with them and get the AUTO RESTRICTION will that hinder me from going and getting manual later? Will a different company pay for me to go back to get manual if I don't get it now?

Maybe better keep looking then. You get the automatic restriction lifted any time you can get a stick shift truck to test in. Maybe better keep looking. Did you contact CFI about this?
c.lloyd83 Thanks this. -
If you want that CDL and a driving job, does it really matter if you have the automatic restriction? Most companies are going to autos anyway. You can always retest in a manual later should you still want it but for now, if you can get started sooner, why should it matter if you want it bad enough?
Not trying to be snarky, I’ve just seen people say this in a couple of different threads and I get that you’d rather have no restrictions, I’m just not sure I understand the line of thinking if you want it bad enough.c.lloyd83 Thanks this. -
CFI hasn’t got back in touch with me yet. Gonna recall the today...Chinatown Thanks this.

I agree with you, I am just trying to find out if I got the restriction now would a company be willing to train me on manual later?drumchaos Thanks this.

Not sure if they hire out of Ohio but I will be starting and trading with RE West at the beginning of Feb. I know they train on a manual. Also no contract to non compete for training just ask that you stay 6 months or repay the $85 for the physical/drug screen and any sign on bonus. Below is a link to a recent thread @Chinatown and myself started about them.

try Dutchmaid in Willard ohio also , you get a temporary permit ( written test ) on your own and send you out with an instructor until your ready to take the test from what I know of them the instructors are decent and do a very good job of training you ..... don't see there trucks doing stupid stuff too much like Stevens England swift us express ect ....... but I would definitely go with a smaller company instead of a mega and would be better to at least learn with a 10 speed but more and more seem to be going to automatic .... wouldn't want an automatic transmission only on my cdl either
c.lloyd83 Thanks this.
