Lucas "red n tacky" grease. Thoughts?

If the packets is what you have , raise the trailer above the fifth wheel before backing under the nose of the trailer . Stop short of the king pin . Lower the trailer on to the fifth wheel. Then finish backing up to latch the fifth wheel . Slapping them on and just hooking can lead to wasting the grease on the nose of the trailer. Have used them and like them.

I've been using the packets since ... for awhile on 5 th wheel, they come in handy.

Is it OK to use one type once another type is already on the 5th wheel?

Thats proper procedure even if you smear some grease on 5th wheel. Just hooking up trailer will scrape most of grease off of 5th wheel if not done as mentioned above.
