As the title says. Anyway I had a note in my box when I came in today that said under new DOT rules if you are over the age of 35 (I am about to be 42) and smoke you have to have one of these done. I shouldn't have any problem even though I smoke the last one I took last year the nurse said my results were better than a non smoker and I was getting over a bout of bronchitis but I haven't seen anything in the news regarding this new rule. The clinic that is supposed to do these charges $30 not too expensive but this was kind of sprung on me.

I've not heard of this (alleged) new DOT rule...
-
Shut up. You are a smoker. You are the one group in our society that is perfectly allowed to discriminate against. So we don't want to hear from you. You can't sit in our restaurants. We don't want our kids be associate with your kind. We don't want to sleep in a bed that you or your people have slept in. You make the property values go down just by coming over to our house. Do you know how many smokers it takes to screw in a light bulb? No, no one does because of all the smoke in here.
We do appreciate all the tax revenue you are paying to us. Having you take the test is just another way to make money off you. -
What's next and when is this all going to stop. I don't see how smoking is going to affect your driving. Just one more ruse to deny you a medical card, if they can get away with it. -
first of all how does you company know you smoke?
Second of all what is this new DOT rule? The article I read in Landline said there is no such ruling yet. -
Exactly. I usually see these these in the news prior to them being enacted. Like the amendment top suspend the new HOS rules. Speaking of that one I read another article that said the Senate was considering an amendment to lift the 70 hour rule and rewritten to 82 hours. This might have been tied into the suspending of the rules that went into effect last year. -

Unless Bloomberg didn't get the information right and this is the result but here is the story I was talking about. -
The environmental waste company I'm at now does this and a whole bunch of blood work as part of their physical. But, we have to wear respirators for some jobs and can be exposed to heavy metals, etc. in the course of our work so they get a baseline they say to protect us, but we know they're only protecting themselves in case someone leaves and claims they have something in their system caused by the job.
