There are two possibilities here.

1. He is a minor, still lives at home and relies on mommy and daddy to buy stuff for him
2. he is a thief, leech, con-man or slug.

Either way, he hasn't enough experience to know what it is to sacrifice so others are comfortable, and there is no real reason to give him any more than a passing fart.
