It's coming down here in S. Beloit as well. It isn't even officially winter yet and I am already sick of seeing snow. I can't wait until next week...it is still in the low 80's at home. The wife said she had to turn the a/c back on today.

I'll take snow over ice. Indiana is a skating rink.

Glad I wasn't the only one playing in the snow this week. Anybody have any tips for keeping the windshield clear that doesn't require reaching out and banging the ice off the wiper while driving?

If it's a drier snow I often run with the heat very low and the defroster off. The snow will bounce off a cold windshield instead of melting and freezing.

Wet snow though your pretty well just stuck with having to knock the wipers clean once in a while. Good winter blades will help by making the time between ice ups longer though.

Well ####, that helps a lot. I've been cranking the heat up thinking it would melt quicker and torturing myself. Thanks!

Don't we defroster keep windshield cold and use wipers like one swipe at a time.

I was having wiper issues no matter what I tried the other day. It wasn't so much the type of snow, but the chemical snow melt would keep it liquid on the roads, but once it hit my truck it would just freeze. Heat off, heat on, heat on with visor down...nothing seemed to work. They make a thing called "the slush buster" for wiper cleaning. It's sorta' like a speed bump you adhere to the windshield in the path of the wiper. Saw a youtube video. A set is only $15...cheaper than heated wipers or a windshield wiper vibrator (yes, they really do make such a thing)...not sure I am allowed to post this, it looks like an advertisememt, but it's worth a try...if the mods's don't approve, then they can remove it

If they don't ice over themselves. I tried to make something similar with a long piece of extra heavy velcro (like the kind we stick the prepass to the windshield with). It worked for a little while, but then got iced over and didn't help, then it made cleaning the windshied a PITA
