I also sometimes carry a can of de-icer spray to help too, most of the times it's up on the steers to clear the blades, I tend to replace the standards with beam style which helps some but does not completely solve the problem.

One thing I do is to take a 30 or a pee break at an independent truck stop. You can roll right up to the fuel island and clean your windshield with the squeegee. I also have a rag that I dowse one end with washer fluid and a capful of antifreeze. I run it over the blades during pretrip, then wipe it dry with the other end. It keeps them working against snow and road salt, but it didn't help any against the ice build up the other night when it was coming down as rain, then freezing to every available surface in the 20 degree temps and 30+ mph crosswind. I had two plus inches of ice buildup on my mirrors.enicolasy Thanks this. -

You guys ever tried just regular old winter blades. When they start to get ice or snow build up on them, put your wipers on high and they will usually clean themselves.

I tried idling it up last week when I was in Minot...I waited until the outside temp was sub-zero before starting the engine, so it didn't idle much over 10 hours. Got up and went in to get my morning Java, and when I went to leave, I was greeted by the "must do parked regen before driving" message...which was followed by a message from the shop on the P/N saying "do a parked regen before driving". I guess idling at the recommended RPM only helps generate engine heat (it was -15 outside). So, I had to hunt down my truck manual to figure out how to do it. Was easy, but it was a little different than with other trucks. Other trucks kick up to 1600, rev the engine fan on and off, and you get an exhaust temp light as it burns it clean (plus that melting metal smell from the hot exhaust). The PACCAR only hit 12 or 1300, no fan, no exhaust temp light and no smell, but it was a quick cycle and the message went away. The Maxxfarces sometimes took 30 or 45 minutes, this was maybe 10. I think it took me longer to find the manual than it did to do the regen.

Man as god is my witness if I'm ever an owner of a class 8 truck I will not have any adaptive cruise functionality on the truck lol.
Got wheelspin on the ice this weekend and now the cruise is non functional and it might take up to 3 ten hour cycles to clear (or a trip to CR) leaving me with a 62 mph truck and no cruise. Yep just the basic cruise on anything I buy lol... -
Be thankful you have cruise control. When I first started driving cruise was wedging a stick on the fuel pedal and the bottom of the dash board.
