I think technically they don't, because there is a sign in the receiving office saying no parking, but there were a bunch of trucks parked overnight when I got there and no one bothered me while I did my 10. YMMV, just don't want to tell anyone incorrect information.

Loading in the am since I had such a productive day. Only took 3 days to do a 425 mile load. Spent my entire 14 hours today to make 3 drops and 156 miles.
Reloading to Newport but was told might be dropping in CR for another highly productive 2 day trip to OH.

I am contemplating going back to a company driver in October when my lease is up, and I really like Magnum, but I can't deal with a 63.5 mph truck. I cruise between 63-65, but want pedal when I need it.

Woobie and Rattlesnake Jake Thank this.

For the longest time, my goal was to drive sort of "cutthroat" where I drove as far as I could every day, only took 10 hour or 30 min breaks, get everywhere asap, have time to chill, and take a 34 quite often. Even if I felt like my hours were low, dispatch always found something for me. I planned everything in 15 min increments and was usually very accurate.

Recently, I've been trying out this mindset of splitting up my days evenly and "never having to take a 34". I hate it. It changes everything. It makes trucking feel more like a "normal" job. I always have to get up when my alarm goes off, because I am forced to stick to a strict schedule, because instead of always being ahead of time I'm now always right on time, so I feel like a slave to the schedule. For the first time, dispatch has mentioned my hours "suck" so I have to wait a day to get a load. For the first time, I am late for a delivery because of some little tiny thing that previously would have not been an issue if I was maximizing my time and ahead of schedule. When I plan trips, I add random half and full hours for the "unknown" (like maybe I'll want to stop for some reason.)

If you can make the 8-9 hour day thing work, then good on you! But it's not for me. I feel like it changes my whole mindset.

You can cruise at 62 and still have that little extra push when you need it. :p when you cruise at 62, you hardly catch up to anyone, so you rarely need to use it anyway lol
