I've heard chirps about having the tanker endorsement here. I don't have it. Apparently we have some hazmat loads that also require tanker because of the big containers used. Am I missing out on loads here because I don't have tanker?

Yes any load in a tote requires it. Laramie is one that you need it on.

How are dry van companies different from reefer? I understand the capabilities are different. But do appointments work different or something? It boggles my mind when people swear up and down they hate reefer or will never pull reefer. Reefer is all I know. I'm not ragging on anyone. I don't understand how it's different. I have a great time doing what I'm doing, so all I think about the nay-sayers is "good, more reefer loads for me."

My only assessment would be reefer can do everything a dry van can do, plus temp controlled freight. But is the lifestyle different?

Dry van doesn't have as many spots like 2200-0400

And for flatbed or stepdeck they are generally happy to see you when you roll up...

Unless I'm just not making a mental account of it, I feel like I rarely get appointments in that time frame. I'll have to look through my appt book. It definitely doesn't seem common.

Dry van also doesn't have long load and unload times usually.

But LOH is shorter. Might take a little longer to load or unload each time but not usually at a dock 2 times a day.
