If you ever get a chance to stop at the Pilot in Oak Grove, KY on I-24 just NW of Nashville, you'll see an (Amish?) family across the street in a tent selling produce.

For the love of everything holy, go check them out! I bought some blackberries, strawberry jam, apple butter, banana nut bread, and honey wheat bread from them a few days ago. Everything is just perfect! It's a bit expensive (I spent $20), but oh is it a treat!

Well after 4 days finally moving. Picking up a brokered load out of Wac(k)o going up to Michigan, then home for a few days.

There's an Amish feller and his wife who set up a tent and sell stuff on the side of 71 just south of Park Rapids. I see them every time I roll by on the weekends, one of these days I'm gonna stop. There's enough room to park on the shoulder.

Got unloaded @ Americold in Hotlanta, only a half hour of detention. Getting a day of layover/reset then reloading in Newnan heading for Sumner, WA. Doesn't deliver until the 4th, I can be there on the 1st. Gonna see if I can deliver early, get another reset and keep rolling or drop it in Fargo.

Sure seems like a lot of layovers lately. I'm delivering in the Cities Thursday and will, for the 2nd week in a row, have to wait until Friday for a load. I asked Chad about it, but he acts like everything is normal. He said outgoing freight from the Cities is always slow on Thursdays. I'm averaging 3 layover days a month this year. Last year I averaged only 2/month.

Slow reloads do seem a bit more commonplace than they used to be. Not sure if it's due to less freight or because of the dispatch situation. So long as they keep paying layover, I can afford to be patient...for a while.

Keep an eye on your paid weekly and monthly miles, that's the key to seeing if freight is really dropping off, customers ramp up and down throughout the year and patterns change...
