My AC is just not turning on at all now... orange triangle. It was coming on for a few minutes before and then turning off and giving me a red triangle. Now it wont even try and the triangle is orange instead of red. Good thing this Flying J is nice and cool inside! I'm not too worried about it. I'll eventually take it to a TK. As for right now... 34 hour reset in Mount Airy, NC.

 

Are you guys able to idle in a situation like this?

 

Stopped at Baker Ciry Oregon to walk down to the bank from the truck stop. Kind of reminds me of when I grew up. Kids riding bikes skateboards around the streets parents not having to keep an eagle eye on them. Bug holy crap I walked into the Safeway to buy som groceries and are they expensive. Everything was 30%~50% higher at least.
But I guess that's the price for living in a place were your kids can run around and actually be kids.

 

Yeah...they don't charge sales tax in OR so that's part of it.

 

I've had alot of tk apu's but never that problem. Would it help to shut off the main switch or doesn't it make a difference. I'll have to be sure to let the beacon know, clearly, not to spray the fan. Zata, that sounds like that 50amp mega fuse and harness. Mine with IDC did that until it finally melted the harness and totally wouldn't start. Easy fix if tk has the harness.

 

We used to. The 17's started coming with a 5 minute idle timer with certain temperature perameters. Since then they have been putting it on the rest of the fleet as they come in for service. Some drivers were idling a ridiculous amount, even with a perfectly good APU. Other drivers like myself don't idle excessively unless a broken apu or extremely cold weather dictated it. I really like Magnum, but one criticism I have is when they have a problem with some drivers, instead of taking it up with them, they deploy a fleet wide solution. Just like with parking reimbursment, some drivers abused it, others like myself didnt, but the company solution was to end it for everybody.

Once the idle timer is on my truck, I'll likely treat a broken apu as an urgent repair. Not to overly complain about the issue, but if necesary I may even get a hotel that I'll expect reimbursment for. I don't need to prove my manliness by staying in an uncomfortable truck because corporate thinks it's good camping weather.

Yep. The few always ruin things for everyone. Sure would be nice to get a hold of the few and "show them the error of their ways"

 

Back in the day when I was in the the service we took care of those problems. We held a blanket party and then seemed to the errors in their ways.

 

I got the idle restrictor put on my '15.... it shuts down after 5 minutes between 40 degrees and 80 degrees.... I think it's 40.... but a I KNOW it's 80 lol..

I'm just waiting for a problem, cause like I said earlier, I have had many issues this year with the APU. I am not going to sleep in some piss smelling fume filled truck stop with my windows down. If my APU breaks and it won't idle, it's hotel time or thermoking time. I'm spoiled, I know....
The low end, I can deal with. I usually don't use the bunk heater anyways till it's lower than 40. I like to be chilly when sleeping. I carry extra blankets just in case.
Thing is... I HATE idling. I am usually between 5-6% idle time. But like @WalterSobchak said, I'm punished for the actions of someone else....
