I’m stopped at Pilot in Senatobia, MS for the first time. I-55 ex265. This place is a jackpot for convenience. There are so many things around here within a very close walking distance.

Barber shop, Fred’s Super Dollar (Dollar Store?) with pharmacy, plaza with dept store/food market, H&R Block.

Food: Chinese Buffet, McDonald’s, KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, huddle house, subway, wendys, Hardee’s, Applebee’s, Popeyes. All those are within sight of my parking spot. A little further down there is a Zaxbys, sonic and a Mexican restaraunt.

Just look it up on Google. There are so many places right here. A Walmart would make it perfect. There isn’t a Walmart, but there is the food market.

Ray, just make sure when dropping a trailer, it's where you can. I was at the New Transit Truck Stop south of Baltimore and they boot-looked a CRST trailer that had been dropped without authorization. Also, people know what we primarily haul and usually can check the seal and get info off of that. Shoot, some places a new reefer trailer that's dropped empty won't last long although ours are GPS enabled.

Mitrucker, that 10mile window is on the way out. The 2019's that are coming in will be compliant with the Dec 2019 elog mandate and all the trucks will have to be by then. So, use that 10 miles window while ya got it. The good news is that FMCSA is looking at relaxing the Personal Conveyance rules to include loaded trailers so that, if finalized, we can go places PC. I think they're starting to realize the can of worms they opened up with the ELog rules.

Not trying to beat a dead horse, but I heard Kevin Rutherford on Road Dog Trucking say yesterday - emphatically - that our per diem deductions will NOT be allowed under the new tax law (for company drivers). Not saying he knows everything...just FYI.

    Just so I understand...

If I'm getting a portion of my pay as per diem, then if that amount is greater than what id get from a standard deduction, then I will owe at tax time.

But if my per diem amount is less than I would get from a standard deduction, then I would receive the difference.

Am I assuming the right thing?

I’m not a Magnum driver. My company only allows one mile before we are kicked onto line 3. Our personal conveyance rules suck. It’s only for use in emergencies.

Lol zata! You're ok! I was trying to catch up to several different msg's. Wish more stops were like Senatobia. The Per Diem thing is still going back and forth. I like Big G's way of doing it...$63 a day tax free for per diem and incidentals...so that covers food and all the other stuff we'd buy to work. I think even ATBS says per diem is ok for company drivers.

OAN...still parked at Tomah WI. I've got some real touchy trailer brakes that lock up easy. Coming to Kwik Trip from Walmart DC, slid right by the first entrance and had to make the right to get in at the McDonald's side. Haven't moved since...no preplan anyway although I was trying to get to CR.
