Open deck has a tendency to screw your MPG's....I am sitting at 5.2 for the month myself, but it has been a HOT month, so my idle time is thru the roof. Good thing we don't get paid like Magnum's bonus system works, we'd be screwed.

What’s this new fancy term open deck for flatbed?
Is that kinda of like transportation relocation engineer for truck driver.

 

Ok door swinger lol. Open deck is just so you don’t need to say step vs flat or glass vs rgn...kind of like saying your a van...

 

Like @Winnyf1 said, open deck covers the full spread of our type trailers....I pull flat, single drop and double drop trailers (along with the occasional van/rack load just to remind me of how much I have grown to dislike pulling a box behind me). Really, it is just semantics, like when tanker-yankers call you door slammers "freight haulers"...even though all drivers pull freight of one type or another.

Gotcha...guess I worked around too many Shaffer drivers who couldn't take the joke when people would call their puffin logo a penguin.
