Well, it’s been a interesting start of a day.

I delivered yesterday morning at Coke in Minneapolis, then called and the only thing they had for me was a same day load up to Fargo. Did that, then called Matt and he set me up with a load from Fargo to Milwaukee, next day, with a reload coming right back. I was hoping to get somewhere south out of the cold, but whatever and I take it.

Grab the trailer Matt gave me and get to CNH right by the yard in Fargo at 0630, get checked in with security and backed into the dock, and then go inside to talk to the loaders. I go back out to my truck and not two minutes later the guy on the forklift drives up and says they don’t load reefers. So I leave and go back over to the yard and call dispatch, hoping someone is there at just part 0700. Someone does answer (I didn’t catch the name) and when I tell her what’s going on she says she makes some calls and get back to me. I wait ... 45 minutes later with no call I call dispatch again and talk to Joey. I tell him everything again. He tells me he’ll make some calls and call me back. This time 5 minutes pass and he does. Tells me to go back, cause this load is supposed to go on a reefer. So I go back, check in again, go inside again, and the forklift guy is in the office and he tells me again they don’t load reefers. The older guy in the office says he talked to someone and they are suppose to. The forklift guy shrugs and says “well, it’s probably gonna take us 5 hours, but I guess we’ll do it.”

So now I’m waiting in my truck as what was gonna be an easy load turns into a bunch of bull.

In general he probably turns down reefer trailers. I've loaded there with one of our dry van trailers before. Kind of the same situation, but I was supposed to bring a van trailer. He probably didn't get the word. I get it. But the forklift driver was wrong in this case and one of our own suffered a bit from it. So I'm gonna stick my tongue out towards the forklift driver on this one lol

Is that the case run stone? Killer miles for the short turn around if you run hard. If its just racks going back to the other plant, there is a friendly wal mart less than a mile away. If its that run for sure... i killed it on detention time at both picks. I was happy.

CNH Fargo usually loads empty racks, they don't fit in a reefer. Good loads, easy out to Ohio and straight back.

Must have caught the odd one there.

Everyone be safe out there. I know MI doesnt have it as bad and even we are hearing about -40 wind chill. Heard one customer say fedex called them saying they werent running tomorrow and I know our trucks are idling over night or being parked in the shop where is warm. We also blew a water main thats going to turn our lot into an ice rink, probably freeze trailers where they are. Dress warm, be safe.

Could be. I got a bunch of what looks like empty racks (only 22k) going to CNHI in Sturtevant WI (south part of Milwaukee) by 1000. Then I got a pick up 2 miles away from there at 1400 going back to Case in Fargo ND. Not a bad run when you aren’t getting messed with.

Speaking of that, it got even worse before I left. After I got loaded and went to scale (even with only 22k I wanted to be sure the axles were right) as I was about to leave I get called and asked if I can swing by the shop before I leave, the camera in my truck isn’t working. So I head to the yard and check into the shop. He says they’re busy, and to drop my trailer and pull up by the building and he’ll have someone grab me when they can. So I reluctantly do all that, then call Matt and let him know what’s going on. He says to forget the shop since I’ll be back in Fargo Thursday and they can fix it then, so I hook up again, try and fuel but the pump on the left wasn’t working, and finally hit the road around noon.

Anyway, still getting the hang of this whole ‘having to call ahead for loads’ deal. Tomorrow while I’m getting unloaded I’ll call and see what they have for Friday morning, since I unload Thursday afternoon and then I’ll need to hit the shop.
