FYI, you're the reason why I chose Magnum. I Only ask to be home once every 3 weeks. The problem I see is the freight coming out of Georgia after home time. I have to ping pong my way up to Minnesota and then from there if I have enough time I'll get a decent load heading out west.

Lots of 700-800 mile loads out of Georgia.
Chicago or DFW, not good over the weekend unless you are low on hours.
Leave out on Monday to Chicago or DFW Deliver Wednesday. If on a Chicago will head to MN for Thursday. Then you grab a good load from there. Remember if they have crap loads on Thursday check to see what they have on Friday(usually better loads) Some times waiting a day you are better off, we are not forced dispatch.
If going to DFW deliver Wednesday then reload back north for Friday. Or if you have hazmat they have some good loads going west out of DFW.

I normally come home on Friday and leave out on Monday every 3 weeks. I've had several drivers tell me the best way to make sure you got loads coming in and out is to call ahead of time to each region to make sure you have a low going out. Sometimes that works they also get a little irritated you calling.

The only place I call ahead is MN and ND.
I have no problem with miles, do some weeks suck yes but that’s just the nature of the business. I’ve also been here 4 years and my record here speaks for itself. I also do put my home time request right at the 10 day out point. Then your go home week is sometimes get screwed by them making sure you get home on time, I have only gotten home 1 day late once and that was because someone needed my load home for a kids graduation, I readily agreed, they asked me before switching my load. They are way better at planning now on the week you are going home now.

I didn't realize people put so much thought into what day of the week things happen in certain areas. I'm oblivious to all of that.

Don't call each region. Definitely will irritate them. Remember, they are dispatching for close to 300 drivers? They have plenty on their plate. If you need to make sure you have a load, reach out to your DM and let them know you appreciate them pushing it to your peoplenet soon as its final. Jordan would always push mine out to me the day before so before I even got unloaded I had a game plan for my reload day or however it went.

Like radio said, call ahead when heading back to MN or ND. The best runs get snatched up early so if you're not being proactive, you'll get the left overs. Be on time to the appointments, handle the things you need to, don't annoy them, and they'll see you are able to run something with legs and not need to be baby sat.

They never call me about anyting. I guess I can be trusted to deliver with no issues. I just want to make sure that during my three week work schedule that my time is utilized to the fullest.

Give it a little more time and try to play it the Magnum way. It'll get better and if not, there are definitely better opportunities out there, specially in ATL depending on how set you are on what you do. I left to run line haul. Current rate is .6448 cpm plus accessory pay and fat benefits like I've never seen before and all the work your heart desires.

Nice western! You're definitely doing good. Magnum loves the people who stay out long durations and slays miles. You seem a lot more content at Magnum than the last place you worked so really glad it all worked out for you!
