After you graduate and get your CDL, do you then go with a trainer for 2 - 4 weeks or are you on your own?

Still 4 weeks out with a trainer afterwards. No complaints there. Need time to learn the tips and tricks of OTR. The CDL class is aimed at the local guys so they don't focus on OTR at all.

Wait till after week 1-2. Not a lot of room in a truck and to share it with a stranger. Worst 4 weeks of my life. I hope your trainer wears driving gloves! Lmao

Hahah I'm sure you're right. I'll try to make the best of it and learn all I can! I'm sure I'll be yearning for my own truck after a few days, I'm a light sleeper. I'll make it through it though.

@Nateman482 This is no joke. My trainer and I got along great (as I'm sure @Ray Strack got along with his too, but I don't know). My trainer and I are both Marine veterans. He is a cool guy. Mine only lasted about 2 weeks. But it was still a horrible experience being with someone else in the truck for a couple weeks. Especially when they're critiquing and judging everything you do. I know I appreciated it at first, but after a while it's like "dude... I know... shut up!" LOL Just remember they're there to help and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Once you're in your own truck it's... so... awesome! The freedom is amazing. Even if you end up hating your trainer by the time it's time to get out of their truck, you'll end up calling them for help and you'll have a friend for life.

I was pretty sure you would be with a trainer but thought maybe they worked it into their school.

The best advice I can give you is buy these. They are noise cancelling and have several different sounds you can listen to, I like the storm with thunder. Not cheap but really good when you have a room mate in close quarters. Not sure what to recommend for the farts but at least you wont hear them

Thanks for the recommendation, I love that they have a 30 day trial window with them. Might end up picking those up.

His trainer was one of the worst mistakes Magnum has ever made...@oor is a trainer and an awesome dude, my trainer has retired but I really liked him.

Just being as little as possible and enjoy the learning, the 4 weeks will fly by. Lol watch Allie Knight’s videos especially her early days...it’s a great insight into life on the road. Good luck!
